UAVs

Unmanned aircraft systems are currently being used for a number of different applications. This includes military aerial survey law enforcement and also civilian use. UASs is the future it is a great way to explore new heights in aviation with a low safety risk. UASs doesn’t has a pilot and can be directed by remote control.
There is a difference between UAV and UAS. The UAVs is an acronym for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, which is an aircraft with no pilot on board. UAVs can be remote controlled aircraft or can fly autonomously based on pre-programmed flight plans or more complex dynamic automation systems. UAVs is the way of the future. In my option it will evolve dramatically in the mere future the way that technology is advancing. A UAS is a an unmanned aircraft system, which fills the spectrum of anything that might be able to fly in the air.
A good example of civilian use of UAVs is wildlife protection to monitor wildlife populations or map roads and wetlands for land management purposes. The drones can also chart land use changes like deforestation which threatends many wildlife species. The military are also big on UAVs they have the most advance technology for example the AA1 Aerosonde it was designed for modular long endurance unmanned aircraft systems which is intend to fulfill the primary roles of unarmed reconnaissance, data collection and surveillance(Staff.2015) . I believe UAVs are going to have a large role in the future in fields such as the weather its a safe and easy way to gather data. I also believe NASA will also use UAVs because of the safety aspect.
There were some job offering for the UAV field such as Stotz Equipment it is a family owned looking for UAV pilots with an FAA section 333 exemption to fly on an on-call basis. This would be primarily agricultural mapping at a competitive hourly rate.

  1. I like how you talked about UAV's application to protect and monitor wildlife. I never thought about that kind of application before and it really makes sense to use UAV's in that sense. UAV's are a great tool for mapping and charting land.

  2. I agree that the UAS's are going to become a big part of other fields. To add what you said to the military, another way that the military has been using them is with their ground troops taking surveillance ahead of what's ahead to inform the ground troops of anything harmful.

  3. I forgot to include NASA's future use of drones in my blog, good call. Also, really neat find with the job posting for agricultural flying! The military contractor and big name aviation manufacturing was pretty easy to come across, but seeing a real world example of the less televised segment of the industry is really cool.
